Harmony House was founded in 1993 by a collective of professionals from social service, medical, and business backgrounds who recognized an unmet need within Houston’s homeless community.

Situated adjacent to our current location, the original Harmony House dormitory once accommodated 103 beds. Sadly, that facility was lost to an electrical fire. Today, in its place, stands our newly built 128-bed dormitory—expanded and reimagined to better serve our residents with dignity and stability.

Harmony House, Inc. serves low-income individuals at risk of homelessness as well as chronically homeless individuals with disabling conditions, providing quality permanent and transitional housing, and access to primary health care with on-site clinic services.

We foster self-sufficiency by providing programs coupled with wraparound services to ensure that individuals are able to not only obtain housing but also maintain their housing, long-term, giving them the ability to work toward reaching their individual goals. Our model for low-barrier housing prioritizes providing safe and stable housing to individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness, regardless of their readiness or ability to meet traditional requirements.

We embrace a person-centered approach that recognizes the unique needs, goals, and preferences of everyone. Harmony House provides on-site support services or has close partnerships with service providers to address the unique needs of their residents. These services can include case management, mental health counseling, substance use treatment, healthcare access, life skills training, employment assistance, and legal support.
